PURPOSE & TARGET AUDIENCE

The purpose of this educational module is to cover optimal diagnosis, approach to treatment, and long-term management of acne vulgaris. This activity is intended for nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, and healthcare professionals that treat acne.


LEARNING OBJECTIVES

As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a current understanding of the pathogenesis of acne and recognize how successful acne treatments target specific pathogenic factors.
  • Utilize new developments in the treatment of acne, as reflected in current treatment guidelines, and their impact on clinical practice.
  • Apply evidence-based treatment regimens for pediatric patients with acne that are conducive to increased patient adherence and increased patient outcomes.
  • Assess and diagnose acne vulgaris in patients, including preteen/preadolescent and adult patients.
  • Cite evidence regarding the treatment of acne and its effect on the course of the disease in patients.
  • Select the type of medication and route of delivery appropriate for individual patients, based on age, severity of disease, and other factors.
  • Relate to patients and/or caretakers regarding the nature and management of the disease and on implementing strategies for coping with acne.
  • Improve proficiency in pharmacotherapy, including prescribing and patient monitoring.

    You can earn a maximum of 8.0 CE/CME credits by reading the Acne In-Review Guide and completing a web-based, multiple-choice CE/CME post-test and evaluation.

    After reviewing the Guide, take the web-based post-test, available at AcneInReview.com. Participants must demonstrate a mastery of each Guide section by attaining a minimum of 70% pass rate on the CE/CME post-test.

    To receive your certificate of completion, you must complete a brief survey about the course material and process. After completing the evaluation, you will be able to immediately generate and print your CE/CME certificate. If you do not pass, you may retake the course and test as many times as necessary without registering again.
